The BİLGE model family is developed by TÜBİTAK BİLGEM, Türkiye's leading R&D center carrying out multidisciplinary research and developing strategic technologies across a wide range of domains, including information technologies, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and defense.

By providing Turkish-first foundation models, embedding models, and more as open AI infrastructure, TÜBİTAK aims to empower researchers, startups, companies, public institutions, and independent developers to build innovative AI applications and contribute to a thriving Turkish AI ecosystem.

Why Are We Publishing the Models Instead of an Application?

At TÜBİTAK, our mission is not to build end-user AI applications, but to develop and provide the core AI technologies that enable them. By publishing our AI models, we aim to support and strengthen the AI ecosystem, enabling companies, public institutions, startups, researchers, and independent developers to create innovative products and services.

In line with this mission, rather than allocating our development resources to building and maintaining individual applications, we focus on developing flexible and open models that serve as the building blocks for new products, solutions, and technologies. This approach encourages a diverse ecosystem in which stakeholders, particularly startups, can develop applications tailored to different needs and use cases.

How these models are deployed, adapted, and extended is now in your hands. As we make our AI models openly available and continue to enhance them through future releases and updates, we look forward to seeing the community adopt them, build upon them, and transform them into innovative products, solutions, and applications.
